In recent weeks, I have developed a serious, if common, malady; one that I fear will bring shame upon myself and my geekish brethren.

That's right. I got a social life. I'm scared too.

I have not, however, sacrificed my leet skills for this. In a fresh Molten Core instance (all bosses), first pull to Ragnaros loot: 5 hr 25 min.

So. Star Wars. Ya, there are spoilers here but nothin too bad. I mean, everyone knows how it ends anyway. I won't say anything about acting. It's not what I went to see. You guys know I can overlook bad acting or terrible writing when it comes to a good story, and I don't mean only for Star Wars. I did like the LotR books, after all.

Basically a recycled movie. Costumes, poses, lines, entire scenes. Lucas basically took everything that was good from the original trilogy and put them together here, with some corny scenes thrown in for good measure. "Lock X-foils in attack position." The clone fighters look like early model X-wings. The Jedi fighters look like early model TIE fighters. Yoda quips about Palpatine's faith in the Dark Side, just like Palpatine did about Luke's faith in his friends. I think I'm the only one there who noticed that one. Owen standing on the ledge, looking to the sunset. Anyone who didn't notice that one needs to be shot. "Revenge of the Sith," from "Revenge of the Jedi," which was later named "Return" as Jedi don't do that whole revenge thing. Things like "I've got a bad feeling about this" and the funny dying scream were expected. I mean, even LotR uses the funny dying scream.

It also segues perfectly into A New Hope. It's not a happy ending, even though there's a shred of hope. It's also not THE ending, so happy or not doesn't much matter. It's pretty obvious that what we have here are not two mostly standalone story arcs, because Revenge of the Sith doesn't have a real ending. There's a rise to power and then... well, a fall. Just, the fall begins in Episode 4, which of course happens after Episode 3. The only incongruity is the actual timing of the release of the films on earth, which is rather insignificant as far as the story is concerned. And the main character is Anakin, not Luke. Anakin is found, is raised, falls to evil, rises to power, falls from power, and is redeemed. This is HIS story. Luke just plays a major role, as he has a story of which he is the hero as well. It just seems to me that his story is just beginning in Eps 4-6, just as Anakin's was ending. Both were incomplete. Anakin's was brought to light by the prequels, Luke's by the Expanded Universe books on which I grew up. Ep 1-6 make one story, not 1-3 and then 4-6.

Points of interest:

-Luke is born first. This is something not even Luke and Leia know.

-Padme is Vader's first Force-choking victim. Not sure why that's significant, but it is. It later became his favorite mode of execution.

-Yoda is badass. But we already knew that.

-Two, there are. Two Sith. Two Jedi (Yoda and Obi-wan). Two children. Always two.

-Anakin was suppose to be the Chosen One. Did he fail? Or was the prophecy misread and Luke the Chosen One? Two interpretations:
1) Anakin is the Chosen One. He brought balance to the force. Balance is light AND dark, and the Republic had been in the light far too long. Evil and Good do not exist side by side. Rather, they take turns being the dominate force. Good had it's time, it's Evil's turn now.
2) Luke is the Chosen One. He defeated the Sith and brought the galaxy back to light and order.
Unless I have access to the exact wording of said prophecy, I really can't say which is the case.

-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!111!!1!oneone!! (<-- that's going to be mocked non-stop online.)

All in all, I liked it.

Ragnaros got deadified last week.

In other news, UH is a shithole. Finals sucks. I want to go home and finish college there, but it doesn't look feasible at this point. I don't want to take extra time to graduate, so I think I'm stuck here for two more years, at which point I can start looking for a grad school closer to home.

Bah.

So, um, we didn't beat Rag, but with things like this being said, I can't say I'm surprised.
